Sweet Treats and Spooky Sips: Fall Food Favorites Land at Houston Zoo’s Zoo Boo

Fall has a flavor at Houston Zoo, and it tastes like caramel, cinnamon, and a little bit of mischief. During Zoo Boo, running through October 31, the Zoo serves up a seasonal food and drink trail that turns a day of animal watching into a full-on autumn feast.

Start at Jack’s Café near the main entrance with a dipped cheesecake, then head to the McNair Asian Elephant Habitat kiosk for three show-stopping desserts: Boo-Berries and Cream with berry compote and churro crumble, Caramel Apple Pie with salted caramel and cinnamon streusel, and the Graveyard Shift, a chocolate ice cream creation with cookie dough, Oreo dirt, candy worms, and pumpkin candies.

Craving something savory? Cypress Circle Café’s Devil’s Kiss Burger arrives on a black bun with pepper jack cheese, bacon, jalapeños, and cayenne-paprika ketchup. Finish with the Trick or Treat Brookie Bar, a brownie-cookie mashup made for fall.

Over at the Children’s Zoo, fall-inspired drinks keep the whole crew refreshed, and a digital map helps families plan their own food trail through the park.

Zoo Boo, presented by King & Spalding, runs September 25 through October 31, with pumpkins, decorations, and photo ops all around the Zoo. Come hungry — the animals aren’t the only stars this season.
