Greenfield Village with a toddler is a different — and in some ways better — museum. Skip the lectures and follow the wheels: the Weiser Railroad’s steam train circles the village with endless wow, the 1913 Herschell-Spillman carousel spins at just the right speed, and the Model T rides let little ones bounce along in a real piece of history.
At toddler pace, the village’s farm animals at Firestone Farm steal the show, the village green begs for a picnic blanket, and the playground near the carousel earns a long stop. Costumed presenters are kind to small visitors, and the village’s wide, car-free streets are stroller heaven.
Greenfield Village, part of The Henry Ford, sits at 20900 Oakwood Boulevard in Dearborn. Go on a weekday morning, bring snacks and let the smallest historian set the itinerary.
