Get ready, trainers — the Pokémon Fossil Museum is coming to Denver! The Denver Museum of Nature & Science has just announced that this beloved exhibition will open its doors on May 28, 2027, making the Mile High City only the second stop in North America on its tour, after Chicago’s Field Museum.
This one-of-a-kind exhibition brings together the worlds of Pokémon and paleontology: visitors can compare real fossils and specimen casts with life-size models of Fossil Pokémon like Tyrantrum, Archeops and Aurorus. One of the star displays places a cast of SUE the T. rex skull — one of the most complete T. rex fossils ever found — right beside the fierce Tyrantrum, the Rock/Dragon-type Pokémon it inspired.
Throughout the exhibition, friendly signage shows how fossils are found, excavated and studied in both the real world and the Pokémon world, inviting kids and adults alike to think like natural historians. Excavator Pikachu himself greets visitors at the entrance, ready for a prehistoric adventure.
The Pokémon Fossil Museum was created by the Field Museum, Japan’s National Museum of Nature and Science, and The Pokémon Company International. Tickets are not on sale yet, but fans can join the museum’s interest list for exclusive pre-sale access before they open to the general public.
Mark your calendars for May 2027 — a fossil adventure 65 million years in the making is heading to Denver!
