Autumn in Denver is pure magic, and the Mile High City is showing off its very best this season. Golden aspens, crisp blue skies, world-class culture and a calendar bursting with celebrations — there has never been a better moment to fall in love with Denver.
The festivities are in full swing. Larimer Square welcomes fall on October 10 with Heritage Harvest, a charming celebration of pumpkins, photo moments and autumn flavors. At Four Mile Historic Park, Bright Nights at Four Mile — Denver’s original lantern festival — glows on through November 8 with a brand-new theme and dazzling sculptures. For a delightfully spooky twist, the Ellie Caulkins Opera House hosts Witches’ Tea on October 11, with traditional tea service and hauntingly sweet treats.
Art lovers are in for a treat too. MCA Denver presents Colorado Currents through November 1, featuring 28 artists with ties to Colorado, while Moments That Made US — part of America’s 250th and Colorado’s 150th anniversaries — runs through October 18 with more than forty historic artifacts. At Saint John’s Cathedral, Celestia transforms the landmark into a living canvas of light, projection and music.
Food and drink shine just as bright. The Denver Beer Trail winds through neighborhood breweries with their own personalities, and acclaimed newcomers like Rougarou, Peach Crease Club, Romyo and La Vie En Rose are giving the city’s dining scene fresh sparkle.
Sports fans get a golden season as well: the Rockies wrap up while the Broncos, Nuggets and Avalanche launch new campaigns, and Denver Summit FC closes its inaugural home season on October 24.
And then there are the colors. With five climate zones within a two-hour drive, Denver enjoys one of the longest fall-color seasons anywhere — from the high aspens of Guanella Pass to the tree-lined Cherry Creek Bike Trail right in the city. Grab a jacket, bring your camera and come see why autumn belongs to Denver.
