State Fair of Texas Expands Free Student Tickets to the Final Two Weekends

The State Fair of Texas just made it even easier for families to enjoy America’s favorite fair. The nonprofit fair announced on October 5 that free student admission tickets will now be valid on every day of the fair, including the final two weekends, through Sunday, October 18.

Traditionally, the free student tickets were only good on weekdays. The change comes in response to rough weather that spoiled many family plans at the start of this year’s fair, and to feedback from parents and educators, according to fair president Mitchell Glieber.

The program gives free admission tickets to students from pre-K through 8th grade in participating school districts within 100 miles of Fair Park. Since 2018 alone, nearly 14.2 million free tickets have been handed out to students and teachers across North Texas.

Parents also get a break: a $5 discount on admission at BigTex.com/parents, and everyone enjoys discounted admission after 5 p.m. each day. Plan your visit before the Big Tex curtain falls on October 18.
