Frontiers of Flight Museum Celebrates the Sky at Dallas Love Field

Dallas has a museum where the city’s love of flying fills two huge hangars. The Frontiers of Flight Museum, at 6911 Lemmon Avenue on the southeast side of Dallas Love Field, shares the story of aviation and space exploration through more than 40 real aircraft and spacecraft, thousands of artifacts and hands-on exhibits for curious visitors of every age.

The museum’s Jim Bob Crew Innovation Hangar invites families to build, test and experiment, while the galleries trace flight from its earliest days to the Moon: highlights include the Apollo VII command module, a gallery devoted to Braniff International and the golden age of Dallas aviation, and the story of Southwest Airlines, which was born at Love Field. Young aviators can climb, explore and imagine in the dedicated children’s play area, and Living History presentations bring the people behind the planes to life on select days.

Founded in 1988 by Kay Bailey Hutchison, William E. Cooper and Jan Collmer, the museum also reaches more than 200,000 students each year with science and flight education across North Texas. Whether you love history, engineering or simply watching planes, it is one of Dallas’ happiest days out. The museum is open Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.
