teamLab Lands in Chicago: A Dazzling Digital Dream Opens Free at the Smart Museum

Chicago just got a little more magical. teamLab: Everything Exists in Infinite Continuity has arrived at the Smart Museum of Art, and it is the world-famous Tokyo art collective’s very first exhibition in the Midwest.

Step inside and the walls come alive: blooming waves of light, oceans of color and digital gardens that respond to your presence. The show traces 25 years of teamLab’s journey, bringing together some of their most beloved installations plus brand-new works created especially for Chicago, like Sea of Darkness, Memory Shining from the Depths. Each piece blurs the line between you and the artwork, inviting you to wander, play and lose track of time.

Founded in 2001 by Toshiyuki Inoko, teamLab gathers hundreds of artists, programmers, scientists and architects who use technology to explore perception and connection. Their immersive worlds have drawn millions around the globe, and now the experience is right here in Hyde Park.

The exhibition is on view September 22, 2026 through February 21, 2027, and admission to the Smart Museum of Art is always free. A dazzling, family-friendly adventure you won’t want to miss.
