Chicago is about to celebrate Día de los Muertos in the most magical setting imaginable: surrounded by the glowing aquatic world of the Shedd Aquarium. On Friday, October 30, the aquarium hosts a special Día de los Muertos edition of Ritmo del Mar, its beloved series celebrating Latino culture.
¡Celebre la vida! Guests will move to the many beats of música mexicana with live performances, play a lively game of Lotería, join bilingual animal chats, and savor delicious food and drinks — all while sharks, belugas, and sea otters glide through the tanks around them. It is a joyful celebration of life, memory, and community, honoring tradition with rhythm and color.
Admission includes all aquarium exhibits plus the live entertainment, so you can explore the entire aquarium before the music starts. The evening runs from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, with tickets at $29.95 for adults and $19.95 for members.
If you are looking for an unforgettable way to honor Día de los Muertos in Chicago, this night at Shedd is it. Get your tickets early — this celebration always draws a crowd.
