Every spring, Uptown Charlotte takes off its tie. Charlotte SHOUT! — the city’s flagship festival of art, music, ideas and food — sprawls across downtown with giant art installations (the inflatable wonders of previous years remain local legends), free concerts, muralists at work and street performers on every corner.
The festival’s strands braid the whole city’s creativity: an ideas summit bringing national speakers, a food celebration of Charlotte chefs, showcases for local bands and dance companies, and interactive art that turns office plazas into playgrounds. Born from the city’s 250th anniversary celebrations, SHOUT! has become the annual proof-of-life of Charlotte’s cultural ambitions.
It’s free, it’s walkable, and it’s the best possible answer to “what’s happening in Charlotte?” Come shout about it.
