Boston is about to celebrate one of its most beautiful traditions! The Veronica Robles Cultural Center (VROCC) presents its 14th annual Día de Muertos celebration — the largest multi-day Day of the Dead celebration in New England — at the ICA Watershed in East Boston, from Saturday, October 31 through Monday, November 2, 2026.
The celebration features a moving exhibition of ofrendas — altars created by local artists and community members honoring ancestors and loved ones who have passed — alongside cultural programming throughout the weekend. The closing day on Monday includes guided school tours, opening the doors of the tradition to Boston’s young people. Past editions have included live music and dance, traditional foods like pan de muerto and more than a dozen ofrendas.
The Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston describes the celebration as “a cornerstone of cultural enrichment in New England, preserving tradition while fostering intercultural dialogue across Massachusetts.” VROCC, a Boston Latin American arts group that also organizes the Viva México and Viva Colombia festivals, has built this event into a beloved annual gathering for the entire community.
Día de Muertos is a joyful celebration of life and memory, and Boston’s is the biggest in New England. Happy City News invites everyone to visit the ICA Watershed, admire the altars and join in a tradition full of color, music and love.
