Lake Baldwin Park: Orlando’s Lakeside Escape Where Even the Dogs Can Swim

Some of Orlando’s happiest afternoons happen far from the theme parks, on the grassy shore of Lake Baldwin. Lake Baldwin Park, a beloved City of Orlando park in the Baldwin Park neighborhood, wraps around the lake with wide lawns, shady oaks and open water views that invite you to slow down.

Walkers, joggers and cyclists follow the paths along the waterfront, anglers cast from the fishing pier, and families spread blankets for picnics under the trees. Benches face the lake, so there is always a quiet spot to watch the sky change color at the end of the day.

The park’s most famous residents, though, are its four-legged visitors. Its off-leash dog park is one of the most popular in Central Florida, with a sandy shoreline where dogs can splash and swim, plus a dog washing station for the ride home. Few sights are happier than a dozen joyful dogs racing along the water’s edge.

Best of all, this lakeside escape is free and open every day — a reminder that in Orlando, everyday nature can be just as memorable as a headline attraction.
