Baltimore has always been a writers’ town — Poe, Mencken, Ta-Nehisi Coates — and each fall it celebrates in print. The Baltimore Book Festival, produced by the Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts, fills its stages and tents with authors, readings, panels, booksellers and literary organizations from across the region.
The joy of the festival is its range: bestselling novelists in conversation in the morning, cookbook demos by afternoon, poetry slams and kids’ story stages in between, and long tables of local presses selling the city’s next great book. Pair it with the surrounding Mount Vernon and harborfront museums and it becomes a full literary weekend.
Bring a tote bag. You will fill it.
Festival dates and author lineups are announced each year at baltimorebookfestival.org.
