The Hippodrome Theatre: Broadway’s Baltimore Home Since 1914

The marquee glow on Eutaw Street has announced big nights in Baltimore for more than a century. The Hippodrome Theatre opened in 1914 as a vaudeville house and movie palace, and after a loving restoration it reopened in 2004 as the crown of the France-Merrick Performing Arts Center — today the city’s premier stage for touring Broadway.

Inside, the 2,000-plus-seat auditorium wraps audiences in gilded, old-palace glamour while the stage hosts the biggest titles on tour: long runs of Broadway hits, family spectacles and special engagements across the season. Its Westside block, steps from Oriole Park and the Inner Harbor, makes a full night out easy.

For Baltimore theatergoers, the Hippodrome is where Broadway comes to them.

The Hippodrome is at 12 North Eutaw Street. Season and tickets at baltimorehippodrome.com.
