ZACH Theatre: Austin’s Professional Stage Since 1932

Texas’s oldest continually running theatre company sits beside Lady Bird Lake, still setting the city’s theatrical pace. ZACH Theatre — founded 1932, reborn under producing artistic director Dave Steakley into a three-stage powerhouse — stages the region’s biggest musicals in the Topfer Theatre, intimate plays in the Kleberg, and outdoor summer musicals on The People’s Plaza that are pure Austin ritual.

ZACH’s seasons premiere new American plays, reimagine classics with Texas accents, and its education programs (from pre-K story drama to the celebrated ZACH Performing Arts School) train thousands of young Austinites yearly. Summer’s free outdoor productions gather the city barefoot on the lawn.

Professional polish, hometown heart: ZACH is where Austin goes to the theatre — and has for ninety years.
