A Haunting at 100: The High Museum Throws a Halloween Party for Its Centennial

On Friday, October 30, the High Museum of Art will open its doors after dark for A Haunting at 100, a Halloween party celebrating the museum’s centennial year. From 6 to 10 p.m., the entire museum becomes the setting for a night of art, costumes and a century’s worth of secrets. Registration is required, and guests enter through the Stent Family Wing at 1280 Peachtree St NE, Atlanta.

The Taylor Lobby turns into the dance floor, where DJ Mudra Mami will keep the crowd moving with a genre-blending mix of Afro House, R&B, hip-hop, amapiano, house and global sounds. There will also be themed drinks at the cash bar, a photobooth and the Museum Shop. The Atrium hosts ghost stories from award-winning storyteller Amanda Lawrence and her show That Haint Right: Appalachian Ghost Stories, along with a candy bar, art making and games. Up on Orkin Terrace, the El Ponce food cart serves bites in the open air.

After-hours Halloween gallery tours, limited to 50 guests each, run at 7:30 and 9 p.m. with sign-ups in the Atrium. At 9 p.m., the costume contest takes over the Taylor Lobby, with prizes for best couples costume, most creative, scariest and funniest. Costumes are strongly encouraged, though not required.
