“I SPY! Walter Wick’s Hidden Wonders” Opens at the High Museum of Art

The High Museum of Art is showing “I SPY! Walter Wick’s Hidden Wonders,” August 28, 2026, through January 3, 2027 — the largest survey to date of Walter Wick, the world-renowned photographic illustrator behind the iconic “I SPY!” and “Can You See What I See?” children’s books.

The exhibition features more than 45 works spanning 50 years: beloved search-and-find images, rarely seen pieces, and the three-dimensional hand-built models behind them. Wick’s immersive, large-scale photographs of miniature worlds blend art, craft, and technology with optical illusions and hidden games that reward what museum director Rand Suffolk calls “deep and long looking.”

The show is the latest in the High’s popular children’s-book-artist series — running since 2013 — and the first to feature photography as its primary medium. Displayed on the second level of the Stent Family Wing, it is a family-friendly, all-ages wonder, with Toddler Saturdays programming tying in for the youngest visitors.
