The 50th Marine Corps Marathon Takes Over the Capital on October 25

Get ready to cheer, Washington! The Marine Corps Marathon — proudly known as “The People’s Marathon” — celebrates its historic 50th running on Sunday, October 25, turning the capital into one giant finish-line party.

Tens of thousands of runners from all 50 states and dozens of countries will take off at 7:20 a.m. from Route 110 near the Pentagon, racing 26.2 miles past some of America’s most beloved landmarks: the National Mall, the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial, before a triumphant finish at the Marine Corps War Memorial. Famous as the largest marathon in the world that awards no prize money, the MCM is all about heart, grit and community — and the crowds of spectators cheering every mile make it legendary.

Race weekend starts Saturday, October 24, with two family favorites: the brand-new MCM 8K, bringing all the MCM energy in a shorter distance, and the MCM Kids Run, an official 0.8K fun run that gives young runners their own moment of glory.

Whether you run, walk or simply grab a cowbell and cheer, this is one of the happiest weekends of the fall in the capital. See you at the course!
