Across from the University of South Florida, MOSI — Tampa’s Museum of Science & Industry — has spent decades turning Bay area kids into hurricane scientists, astronauts and engineers, with Florida’s only IMAX Dome Theatre (now a state-of-the-art digital dome) at its heart.
Its signature experiences are pure Florida science: Disasterville, where visitors test themselves against hurricanes, wildfires and floods the state actually faces; the Saunders Planetarium’s night skies; a ropes course and the science park’s hands-on physics playground.
MOSI’s camps, scout overnights and school programs form the region’s STEM backbone — its alumni run Tampa’s hospitals, space contractors and startups.
Bring a kid with questions. MOSI returns them with bigger ones.
