Across the river from downtown, Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park turned 25 acres of Tampa’s west bank into the city’s outdoor playground — a $15-million-plus reinvention with something for literally everyone.
Families split their day between the splash pad and play zones, the Great Lawn’s events, sand volleyball, basketball and the River Center’s community programs. The park’s public art — including the towering “Netting” sculpture forms — and its Hillsborough River shoreline make it photographers’ territory at golden hour, with downtown framed perfectly across the water.
Named for Tampa’s mayor Julian B. Lane, the park anchors the West River redevelopment that’s reconnecting historic neighborhoods to the waterfront.
Bring a picnic, a basketball and a camera. Lane Park supplies the rest.
