When Tampa rebuilt Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park, it built the family day in: a splash pad beside the play zones, a Great Lawn for cartwheels and concerts, courts for every game, and a river shoreline made for skipping stones toward the downtown skyline.
The River Center hosts community programs and camps, the public art thrills climbers-with-eyes (look up at the towering Netting sculpture), and weekend food trucks turn the park into the West River’s living room. Sunset picnics here — skyline gold across the river — are a local family ritual.
It’s free, it’s sprawling, and it never makes you choose between playground and view.
West Tampa’s front yard is open. Bring the whole neighborhood.
