It’s official: the world’s longest continuous sidewalk runs along Tampa Bay. Bayshore Boulevard stretches 4.5 miles from downtown Tampa to Ballast Point, a palm-lined promenade where the city’s joggers, cyclists, skaters and sunset-watchers parade beside the glittering bay.
The view is the workout’s reward — sailboats on Hillsborough Bay, dolphins if you’re lucky, and the downtown skyline riding the horizon. Historic Bayshore mansions, including some of Tampa’s grandest homes, line the inland side, while Gasparilla’s pirate invasion lands here each January.
There is no ticket, no schedule, no start line. Just lace up at any point and join Tampa’s daily procession.
Some cities have a gym with a view. Tampa has Bayshore — 4.5 miles of it.
