The Seattle Aquarium is making waves far beyond Puget Sound! The beloved waterfront institution has earned a national sustainability honor from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), standing out among zoos and aquariums across the country for its leadership in protecting our planet.
The recognition celebrates the Aquarium’s deep commitment to sustainable practices — from caring for marine life with the highest standards to inspiring hundreds of thousands of visitors each year to become stewards of the ocean. It’s a distinction that honors not just a building on the waterfront, but a mission: inspiring conservation of our marine environment, every single day.
For Seattle, the honor is one more reason to be proud. The Aquarium has long been a place where families marvel at sea otters, touch tide-pool creatures, and leave with a deeper love for the Salish Sea. Now the whole nation is applauding what locals have always known: this is one of the greenest, most dedicated aquariums in America.
Next time you visit, take an extra moment to celebrate — you’re walking through an award-winning champion for the ocean!
