Refract Returns to Seattle: The Nation’s Premier Glass Art Festival Lights Up October

Seattle is about to shine brighter than ever. Refract: The Seattle Glass Experience returns October 15-18 with its eighth edition, turning the city and the greater Puget Sound area into the nation’s capital of glass art for four dazzling days.

This year brings more than 80 events and over 50 artists to Seattle, Everett, Bainbridge Island, Issaquah, and Tacoma. Best of all, most events are free, and everyone is welcome, from curious first-timers to lifelong glass lovers.

The 2026 edition is extra special: Seattle Glassblowing Studio celebrates 35 years, Pratt Fine Arts Center marks 50 years of inspiring artists, and the festival honors the 30th anniversary of “Chihuly Over Venice.” There is even a first-ever glassblowing film festival, opening October 17 at SIFF Cinema Uptown.

Highlights include Gather, the official opening party on October 16; the Pilchuck Block Party and Annual Auction and Gala on October 17; artist open studios across the city; a shuttle to private studios with 11 new stops; and hands-on glassblowing classes where you can create your own piece.

New exhibitions will light up storefronts and galleries, proving why the Pacific Northwest, home to hundreds of glass artists and the legendary Pilchuck Glass School, remains the heart of glass art in the United States.

Mark your calendar, bring your family, and get ready to fall in love with glass all over again.
