Massenet’s Manon Opens at San Francisco Opera on October 15

San Francisco Opera’s 2026–27 season continues with Massenet’s Manon, the beloved five-act opera opening October 15 at the War Memorial Opera House, 301 Van Ness Avenue.

Music Director Eun Sun Kim conducts a cinematic new staging by director Vincent Boussard that follows a young woman who, on her way to the convent, falls in love and runs away to Paris — a sweeping story of passion, glamour, and desire that stands as a highlight of Kim’s season with the company.

The cast is led by soprano Amina Edris as Manon and tenor Pene Pati as the Chevalier des Grieux. Performances are scheduled for October 15, 18, 21, 24, 27, and 30, plus November 1.

Manon remains one of the most treasured works of French opera, and this new production brings its romance and spectacle to life for Bay Area audiences. Tickets are available at sfopera.com.
