Portland Book Festival: The City That Reads, Celebrates

Portland’s favorite statistic might be its bookstores per capita — and each November, Literary Arts turns that love into the Portland Book Festival, the largest celebration of literature in the Pacific Northwest. More than a hundred authors take stages across the South Park Blocks and Portland Art Museum for one glorious, book-drunk day.

Headliners share the schedule with debut novelists, poets, graphic novelists and kids’ authors; the book fair floor buzzes with indie presses (this is the hometown of Tin House and Microcosm), and the lines for signings double as book clubs in motion.

Literary Arts keeps the city’s literary heart beating year-round with Portland Arts & Lectures and writing classes for thousands of students. The festival is its annual parade — come meet your next favorite author.
