OMSI: Portland’s Hands-On Science Playground for All Ages

Rising over the east bank of the Willamette in a converted power plant, the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry — OMSI — is where Portland comes to push buttons, build bridges and ask “what happens if…?” Five exhibit halls cover everything from earthquakes and chemistry to the science of everyday life.

The Turbine Hall’s whirring machines honor the building’s industrial past, while the planetarium and giant-screen OMNIMAX theater launch visitors to the stars. Rotating blockbuster exhibitions — like the record-breaking Titanic showcase — keep the calendar fresh, and the Theory café serves some of the best river views in the city.

OMSI After Dark turns the museum into a 21+ playground of science and cocktails, while camps and labs make it a second classroom for Oregon kids. Curiosity lives here — bring yours.
