Kamin Science Center: Pittsburgh’s Playground of Science on the North Shore

It has a new name and the same mission: blow minds daily. The Kamin Science Center (formerly Carnegie Science Center) anchors the North Shore at One Allegheny Avenue with four floors of hands-on science — more than 200 exhibits where visitors launch rockets, build robots, test their reflexes and touch a piece of Mars.

The Daniel G. and Carol L. Kamin Science Center, renamed following a landmark gift, keeps expanding: the FedEx STEM Learning Center, the Highmark SportsWorks science-of-sports playground, roboworld’s famous robot hall of fame and the Rangos Giant Cinema’s wall-to-wall screen. The Buhl Planetarium — Pittsburgh’s original, from 1939 — still sends audiences to the stars under its dome.

Open daily on the North Shore, steps from Acrisure Stadium and the riverfront trails. Tickets and schedules at kaminsciencecenter.org — members’ mornings and late nights are local favorites.
