Forum 92 Brings Akinbola and Magadlela to Carnegie Museum of Art in February 2027

Carnegie Museum of Art’s Forum series — its long-running showcase for bold contemporary voices — returns February 26, 2027 with Forum 92: Anthony Olubunmi Akinbola and Turiya Magadlela, on view through July 25, 2027.

Akinbola, a Nigerian-American artist, transforms durags into luminous painted tapestries that explore identity and material culture; Magadlela, from South Africa, stitches and stretches nylon pantyhose into richly layered abstractions charged with histories of gender, labor and resistance. Shown together in the museum’s Forum Gallery, their textile-based practices promise one of the most striking pairings of Pittsburgh’s 2027 art season.

The Forum Gallery at Carnegie Museum of Art, 4400 Forbes Avenue in Oakland, is included with museum admission. Details at carnegieart.org — and if the 59th Carnegie International (on view through January 3, 2027) brings you to Oakland this fall, Forum 92 is your reason to return in the spring.
