Down the rabbit hole and into the chrysanthemums: Phipps Conservatory’s Fall Flower Show: Alice’s Adventures in Autumn runs through November 1, 2026 — a family-perfect marriage of Lewis Carroll’s whimsy and the nation’s longest-running fall chrysanthemum show (a Pittsburgh tradition since 1894).
Kids lead the hunt through the glasshouse: the Cheshire Cat’s tree in the Palm Court, now draped in cobwebs and cascading yellow mums; ten chrysanthemum obelisks around the Sunken Garden; and the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party transformed into a festive fall feast in the East Room, clever crows overhead. Opening alongside the show, the new Garden Railroad chugs into the South Conservatory with miniature trains to animate.
Phipps is at One Schenley Park in Oakland; the fall show is included with admission, and timed tickets are recommended at phipps.conservatory.org. Go before November 1 — Wonderland packs up fast.
