With 54 locations across the city, the Free Library of Philadelphia is the family’s front porch: baby and preschool story times, bilingual programs, homework help centers and the beloved LEAP after-school enrichment that turns branches into art studios and science labs every afternoon – all completely free.
At the Parkway Central Library, the Children’s Department adds a grand reading room, regular author visits and the famous Rare Book Department’s treasures (including Grip, Charles Dickens’ stuffed raven). For Philadelphia kids, the library card is a season pass to curiosity, and every neighborhood has a branch holding the door open.
