Rockets, Robots and a Giant Science Playground at the New York Hall of Science

Built for the 1964 World’s Fair in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, the New York Hall of Science is New York City’s only hands-on science center — and a paradise for curious kids. More than 450 interactive exhibits let families launch balls through physics experiments, step inside bubbles, explore the search for life beyond Earth and tinker in the Design Lab, where children build and test their own creations.

Outside, two real rockets from the early space age tower over Rocket Park, and the Science Playground — one of the largest in the country — turns levers, water and sound into outdoor experiments. Preschoolers have their own gentle discovery space indoors. It’s the kind of museum where ‘don’t touch’ becomes ‘please touch everything,’ and a full day disappears fast.
