Pow! The Brooklyn Museum just became the coolest address in New York for anime and comics fans. “Art of Manga” opened on October 3, 2026, and it is the first large-scale exhibition in the Americas to celebrate manga — Japanese comics and graphic novels — as a true art form.
The show fills the Museum’s Great Hall with more than 600 original hand-drawn pages by legendary mangaka. Visitors can see the real artwork behind global sensations like ONE PIECE by Oda Eiichiro, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure by Araki Hirohiko and Inuyasha by Takahashi Rumiko, plus gems like Ooku: The Inner Chambers, Drops of God and art prints from BLEACH. There are also works by the “King of Gag manga” Akatsuka Fujio, whose tiny frog character Beshi serves as the exhibition’s mascot.
Beyond the drawings, the experience includes a companion installation on how ONE PIECE is made, a look at manga before manga with centuries of Japanese narrative art, a celebration of 100 years of Books Kinokuniya, more than 150 gashapon capsule machines and a manga-inspired menu at the Museum cafe. Cosplay is encouraged — the Museum even set up a “cos check” for props.
The exhibition runs through January 31, 2027, Wednesday to Sunday, 11 am to 6 pm. Timed tickets start at $30 and include general admission to the Museum. You can also score the $75 Manga Fan Pass for unlimited visits with a friend all season long. The Brooklyn Museum is at 200 Eastern Parkway, Brooklyn.
