New Orleans is about to welcome back a legendary name in luxury hospitality. Fairmont Hotels & Resorts has announced that reservations are now open for stays from November 2, 2026 — the day the brand-new Fairmont New Orleans officially opens its doors. The debut marks Fairmont’s much-anticipated return to the Crescent City after two decades away, and its 19th property in the United States.
The 250-room hotel occupies 17 floors of the landmark former Bank of New Orleans building at 1010 Common Street in the Central Business District, a 31-story tower designed in 1970 by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. Developer Kailas Companies led the transformation, and the celebrated Rockwell Group designed interiors inspired by the contrasts of New Orleans’ architecture and natural landscape — with a loving nod to the building’s 1970s origins, from the grand ballroom’s local cypress-wood ceiling to Italian-inspired chandeliers.
Food takes center stage thanks to a partnership with Chef Emeril Lagasse and his team, including a new Delmonico Steakhouse with 1970s-inspired décor and The Café by Emeril. Up on the roof, guests will find what the hotel calls the highest rooftop pool in the city, with sweeping views of the Mississippi River, the intimate Third Measure bar and the Bleu Perdu poolside lounge. A 10,000-square-foot spa and more than 19,000 square feet of meeting and event space — including two 4,000-square-foot ballrooms — complete the picture, alongside Fairmont Gold, the brand’s hotel-within-a-hotel experience.
Just steps from the French Quarter and the Caesars Superdome, the new Fairmont is poised to become a gathering place for locals and visitors alike. Want to be among the first to stay? Book your New Orleans getaway through Happy City News’ travel partner.
