Wide, clean, and gloriously uncrowded — Zuma is the beach Malibu locals keep to themselves.
Zuma Beach is one of the largest and cleanest beaches in Los Angeles County, with nearly two miles of wide golden sand in Malibu. Unlike the busier city beaches, Zuma feels spacious and relaxed, with excellent facilities, volleyball courts, and lifeguard towers watching over some of the best swimming water in the region.
It is ideal for families: the gentle slope and wide shoreline give kids plenty of room to play safely, and the sunsets here are legendary. Surfers, bodyboarders, and dolphin-watchers all share the waves happily.
Practical tip: parking lots fill up on summer weekends, so arrive before 10 a.m. Bring everything you need — food options are limited — and stay for sunset; you will not regret it.
