Las Vegas families have a wonderful reason to say thank you — and to play, learn and explore — on Saturday, October 24, when DISCOVERY Children’s Museum hosts First Responders Day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 360 Promenade Place.
The day celebrates the community heroes who keep Las Vegas safe. Kids and families can explore real emergency vehicles and equipment up close, learn practical fire and safety tips, and discover what first responder careers are really like, straight from the people who do them every day.
Hands-on fun fills the museum all day long. Young visitors can make their own badge, decorate a first responder hat and build an x-ray model. Special presentations add even more to enjoy, including an interactive read-aloud, a fire safety science demonstration, “Doctor, Doctor!” exploring medical careers, and the “Let’s Save the World” puppet show.
Community partners joining the celebration include the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, City of Las Vegas Fire & Rescue and Red Rock Search & Rescue, giving families a friendly chance to meet local heroes, ask questions and take photos.
It is a joyful, positive way for children to learn about courage, teamwork and helping others — and for Las Vegas to show its appreciation. Happy City News recommends arriving early to enjoy it all.
