Las Vegas families can try one of the oldest art forms of the Great Plains this fall. The Las Vegas Science & Natural History Museum hosts Plains Beadwork: Loom Beading Basics on Saturday, November 21, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at its downtown home, 900 Las Vegas Boulevard North.
The hands-on workshop begins with the history and artistry of Great Plains beadwork, the intricate glass-bead designs that have adorned clothing, bags and regalia for generations. Then participants sit down at the loom themselves, learning how beads and string come together into fabric, and create a pony-bead bracelet to take home.
The program is recommended for ages 8 and up, which makes it a sweet intergenerational outing: grandparents, parents and kids can all work side by side on their own piece. The workshop is included with museum admission or membership, but supplies are limited, so arriving early is a good idea.
It is one of several craft-centered programs the museum is offering this season, and a lovely reminder that Las Vegas culture reaches far beyond the Strip. Come for the beadwork, and stay to explore the dinosaurs, marine life and hands-on science galleries afterwards.
