One Glowing Shell, a Whole Season: The Kauffman Center’s Year of Arts

Fifteen years after it opened, the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts remains the engine room of Kansas City culture — home stage of the Kansas City Ballet, Kansas City Symphony and Lyric Opera, and host to a calendar that fills its two halls with something wonderful nearly every night.

The 2026-27 season stacks the riches: the Symphony’s classical and pops series in Helzberg Hall, the Ballet’s storybook productions and the Lyric’s operas in the Muriel Kauffman Theatre, plus touring speakers, comedians, jazz and world music on the Kauffman Center Presents calendar.

Come early for the Brandmeyer Great Hall — the glass “beach” at sunset might be the prettiest lobby view in American performing arts.

One glowing shell on the hill, three flagship companies, hundreds of nights: this is Kansas City’s arts heartbeat.
