The Sound of the Season: The Kansas City Symphony’s Christmas Festival

For many Kansas City families, the holidays don’t start until the Symphony does. The annual Christmas Festival at Helzberg Hall wraps the orchestra, choirs and a certain jolly visitor in the warmest sound of the season.

The program is built for wonder: carols and holiday favorites in lush orchestral dress, a sing-along that turns 1,600 strangers into a choir, and the Kauffman Center dressed in its festive best. Santa’s annual appearance remains strictly classified — the children simply must see for themselves.

Multiple performances through December give families plenty of chances, but the festival is a perennial sellout; smart elves book early.

It’s Kansas City’s official permission slip to feel merry — signed, sealed and symphonically delivered.
