Star-Crossed at the Kauffman: Kansas City Ballet’s Romeo & Juliet

Shakespeare’s lovers meet ballet’s most romantic score when Kansas City Ballet presents “Romeo & Juliet” March 12–21, 2027, at the Kauffman Center — Prokofiev’s sweeping music, sword fights, masked balls and the balcony scene that has melted audiences for generations.

The full-length production is the company’s dramatic showpiece: a Capulet ballroom glittering with menace, a sword-clashing street scene, and a final tomb sequence of heartbreaking stillness. For dancers and audiences alike, it is the Everest of story ballets.

The March run makes a perfect early-spring night out — dinner in the Crossroads or Power & Light District, then Verona under the Kauffman Center’s glowing shell.

Parting is such sweet sorrow — especially when it dances.
