Great news for art lovers: The Menil Collection has just unveiled its 2026–2027 exhibition schedule, and it is packed with wonderful reasons to visit this beloved free museum in Houston’s Montrose neighborhood.
The season is already shining with Fragility, on view at the Menil Drawing Institute through January 24, 2027 — more than sixty works celebrating paper as an artistic material, from pierced and stitched drawings to paper sculptures. Also on view: Terry Winters: Vitalized Geometry, a career-spanning look at forty-four prints and works on paper through April 4, 2027, and artist Jitish Kallat’s breathtaking site-specific wall drawing at the Menil Drawing Institute, welcoming visitors through August 8, 2027.
Coming soon is How to Make an Exhibition: The Story of Jermayne MacAgy (December 11, 2026–July 18, 2027), honoring the pioneering curator whose groundbreaking installations inspired some of Andy Warhol’s first silkscreen portraits. In spring 2027, D’MBA: Beauty, Desire, and Collecting an African Mask will gather Baga headdresses from Guinea, West Africa, in one exhibition for the first time. And fall 2027 brings Sedona Surreal: Max Ernst and Dorothea Tanning in the American Southwest (September 17, 2027–March 12, 2028), the first museum exhibition reuniting the paintings and sculptures the couple created during a decade in the Arizona desert.
Best of all, admission to The Menil Collection is always free — making it one of Houston’s brightest cultural gifts to everyone.
