Build, Tinker, Play: Hands-On Fun for Kids at Henry Ford Museum

Some museums say ‘don’t touch.’ Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation hands kids the tools. In Dearborn, young visitors can climb into historic vehicles, experiment in the museum’s hands-on zones and watch big ideas — flight, farming, manufacturing — come alive at kid height.

Highlights for families include the build-your-own Model T activity, where teamwork assembles a miniature of Ford’s icon; the playful geometry of the Mathematica exhibition; and the chance to sit in a real combine harvester cab in the agriculture gallery. Rotating exhibitions like Artemis Adventure with LEGO Bricks (October 18, 2026–January 3, 2027) add fresh reasons to return each season.

The museum is open daily at 20900 Oakwood Boulevard. Pair it with Greenfield Village next door and you’ve got a full weekend of learning disguised as play. Details at thehenryford.org.
