The Triwizard Tournament meets a full symphony orchestra this month at Orchestra Hall. The Detroit Symphony Orchestra presents Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire™ in Concert on October 22 and 23, performing Patrick Doyle’s magical score live while the film plays on the big screen above the stage.
Film-with-orchestra nights have become some of the DSO’s hottest tickets, drawing longtime subscribers and first-time concertgoers alike — many in costume. Hearing the score’s sweeping themes and delicate celesta shimmer from dozens of live musicians, in the pristine acoustics of Orchestra Hall, gives the movie a dimension no home theater can match.
The performances begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Max M. and Marjorie S. Fisher Music Center, 3711 Woodward Avenue. Wands are welcome; spoilers, for first-years, are not. Tickets are at dso.org.
