There is no open-air museum in America quite like Greenfield Village. Spread across more than 80 acres in Dearborn, The Henry Ford’s living-history village gathers nearly 100 historic buildings — Thomas Edison’s Menlo Park laboratory, the Wright brothers’ cycle shop, Henry Ford’s birthplace and the courthouse where Abraham Lincoln practiced law — all moved here or recreated brick by brick.
For kids, the magic is in motion: ride a real steam train around the village, hop into a genuine Model T, spin on the 1913 Herschell-Spillman carousel and watch glassblowers, tinsmiths and farmers at work. At Firestone Farm, chores change with the seasons, and costumed presenters make 19th-century life feel close enough to touch.
Greenfield Village is open daily in season at 20900 Oakwood Boulevard, Dearborn. Members receive free regular admission, and combination tickets with Henry Ford Museum make an easy full day of family exploring.
