Detroit’s dance calendar for 2027 is already cause for celebration. The Dance @ Detroit Opera season continues at the Detroit Opera House with Dance Theatre of Harlem on February 20–21, 2027, and closes with American Ballet Theatre performing Swan Lake on May 1–2, 2027.
Dance Theatre of Harlem — founded in 1969 and beloved for its blend of classical precision and contemporary fire — returns to a city that has long embraced it. Then ABT, America’s national ballet company, brings Tchaikovsky’s timeless Swan Lake to the Opera House stage in the kind of grand production the 1922 theater was built for.
Earlier in the season, Rennie Harris Puremovement brings American street dance to the Opera House on January 23, 2027. Subscriptions and single tickets are at detroitopera.org.
