Confluence Park: Where Denver Was Born

Confluence Park is where Denver was born — the green, breezy spot where Cherry Creek meets the South Platte River, steps from downtown. It’s the city’s favorite place to cool off, watch kayakers play in the rapids, and enjoy the river trails that spin out in every direction.

On warm days the park buzzes with life: families wading in the shallow water, kayakers surfing the man-made whitewater chutes, cyclists cruising the river trail and picnickers claiming the grassy banks. In winter it’s a peaceful riverside walk with great views of the downtown skyline. The big glass REI flagship next door and the surrounding trails make it an easy anchor for a full day outdoors.

It’s ideal for families, kayakers, cyclists and anyone who wants a splash of nature minutes from downtown. Practical tip: bring water shoes and a towel in summer — the shallow areas are perfect for kids to splash around. The river trails connect to miles of car-free paths, so rent a bike and explore. Free and open daily.
