Seven Monumental Sculptures Are Coming to the University of Denver Campus

Art is moving outdoors in Denver: the University of Denver and the Denver Art Museum have announced a new outdoor sculpture installation for the community — seven monumental sculptures that will rise on the DU campus in the coming months.

The Denver Art Museum Sculpture Collection at the University of Denver will feature works by nationally and internationally recognized artists, including Mark di Suvero, Dennis Oppenheim, Catherine Lee, Edgar Britton, Lauren Ewing and DU alumna Gail Folwell. Some will be shown in Colorado for the first time; others return to public view in this new community-centered setting.

The artworks are being installed in phases, with the first phase underway and all seven expected in place by summer 2027. They will anchor a new DU Art Walk weaving together existing campus sculptures and the new works — the first step toward a holistic art experience at DU encompassing collections, galleries and the performing arts.

“We are excited to expand access to art that both the DU and Denver communities will be able to enjoy,” said DU Chancellor Jeremy Haefner. “These new installations will allow everyone to enjoy the sculptures as they move through their daily lives.”
