It’s official — again. COSI, Columbus’ Center of Science and Industry, has been voted America’s best science museum in national readers’ polls, and one visit to its riverfront home in the old Central High School building explains why.
Across 320,000 square feet, COSI packs in a dinosaur gallery built with the American Museum of Natural History, an ocean exhibit with a working research station, a space gallery with a real Mercury capsule, the country’s only permanent WOSU public media studio — and a high-wire unicycle ridden two and a half stories above the atrium floor.
Since 1964, COSI has turned generations of Ohio kids into scientists, astronauts and engineers — then hired some of them back.
In a city that runs on curiosity, COSI is the reactor core. Come prepared to touch everything.
