Big sound, small band, zero stuffiness: ProMusica Chamber Orchestra has spent more than four decades proving that 37 musicians can fill the historic Southern Theatre with as much electricity as an orchestra three times its size.
Led by Music Director David Danzmayr, ProMusica pairs Baroque and classical cornerstones with American premieres and genre-hopping guests — its “ProMusica Sessions” and collaborations with everyone from bluegrass stars to singer-songwriters have made it the thinking listener’s favorite night out. Its free Summer Music Series and youth programs extend the music across the city.
