Summer’s sweetest Columbus ritual unfolds on a blanket: Picnic with the Pops brings the Columbus Symphony to the Columbus Commons lawn for a season of sunset concerts — movie scores, rock tributes, patriotic spectaculars and guest stars, all with the skyline for a stage set.
Families stake out lawn plots with picnic baskets (or the food trucks’), kids dance in the aisles during the movie themes, and the traditional July patriotic concert closes with fireworks over downtown. Table seating sells as fast as the lawn fills.
