Every opera star was once a nervous young singer in a competition hall. The Cooper-Bing Competition (May 16, 2027), Opera Columbus’ long-running showcase, puts the art form’s future on stage — emerging artists from across the country singing for prizes, contracts and the ears of the industry.
Named for Columbus arts patrons, the competition has launched careers onto the world’s stages, and its final round is open to the public: an afternoon of thrilling young voices singing the great arias back-to-back, judged live.
For audiences, it’s the best seat in talent scouting — the “I heard them when” story, available every spring in Columbus.
Opera’s future has a Columbus audition room. Come hear it first.
